Name: Roxy
Age: 16
Breed: Fox Terrier
Sex: Female
Desexed: No
Microchipped: Yes
Weight: 5.5kgs
Size: Small
Located: Wellington
Personality:
Roxy is a quiet girl. She loves being in the company of humans, and needs to live with humans who are home most of the day. Roxy mainly likes to sleep, she likes having a good sniff outside, and gets small bursts of energy. Her two favorite things are: being in the sun, and in her bed, preferably both together. She doesn’t enjoy being picked up and held for long, she prefers to cuddle up next to you on the couch.
Current Medical Status:
Due to her age she has a couple of health concerns which need to be managed. Roxy has a recurring infection in one ear, and most likely undiagnosed arthritis in her hip. When Roxy was 13, she was diagnosed with Pyometra. She didn’t get surgery due to her age. A course of antibiotics will be needed if a flare up occurs, but this has not happened for a year.
Roxy also has incontinence problems during the night, she currently wears nappies. During the day she is fine as long as she has easy free access to outside.
Roxy is not currently on any medication, but will benefit from some arthritis & bladder support. Roxy drinks a lot of water, and on the odd day may not feel like eating. She is used to a mix of dry and wet food twice a day.
Does she like other species?
Roxy is fine in the company of respectful dogs who give her space.
She seems to be fine around children, cats and other small animals. But again due to her age she requires space and respect.
Walks:
Roxy walks well on and off lead, she only requires 15-20 mins per day. She loves to have a good sniff and be free, she prefers an off-lead park, and she will aways stay close to her human.
At the Vets:
Roxy is very reactive at the Vets, and requires a muzzle.
She doesn’t like it when they inspect her mouth, ears or eyes. She’s a little less worried about her body.
Grooming:
Roxy is short haired, she is used to having a bath and a brush at home.
